Things Change 12”

Killer dancehall from Warrior Queen on The Heatwave's first production, the Piano riddim, released by Soul Jazz Records. Warrior Queen flexes her lyrical muscles, telling the story of her move from Jamaica to London and how she's dealt with the struggles and hustles of carving out a career in music. The 12" vinyl includes the instrumental plus a low slung, rave-referencing bashment remix courtesy of Mashit's DJ C.

This is the first in a cracking line-up of cuts on the Piano riddim, with hot vocals from Riko and Rubi Dan coming out on our own label in March. Things Change also features on our forthcoming compilation for Soul Jazz, An England Story, a history of UK MC culture showcasing an incredible array of dancehall, reggae, hip hop and grime artists over the last 25 years.

Warrior Queen has worked in England with the likes of Skream, The Bug, Sunship, Kode 9 and DJ Zinc while in her native Jamaica she recorded with premier league producers including Donovan Germain and Steely & Clevie.
