Mutabaruka at Bernie Grant Arts Centre
The Bernie Grant Arts Centre in Tottenham, named after the late Labour MP for the area and recently opened, presumably to coincide with Black History Month, looks like it'll be a welcome addition to the London music and arts circuit. The David Adjaye-designed building, café and exhibition spaces certainly would've been a welcome addition to my lunch breaks when I worked literally next door a couple of years ago!
Tonight, Wednesday 17th October, sees Jamaican dub poet and radio host Mutabaruka (pictured) performing and in conversation, and other upcoming events include Speakers Corner, featuring performances from rapper Skinnyman, human beatboxer Mad Flow and spoken word artist Malika Booker. Check the website for more info.
