Review of Creezy Hype/Heatwave Affair in One Week To Live

Mash-up kings Punchline/Heatwave are back with their seventh 7" and this one's a big one - not that any of the others haven't caused mass dancefloor devastation. This time they've taken the biggest hit of the year, Crazy, and spliced it with verse from UK MC Rubi Dan, Jamaican crew T.O.K. and king of the dancehall, Beenie Man, with plenty of effects, cut ups and samples piled on top (in particular a perfectly placed sample from the king of hip hop, Jay-Z). On the flip, on a more chilled tip, Mary J Blige's Family Affair remix, featuring NYC's Jadakiss, gets the Punchline/Heatwave treatment, laid as it is over Carlton Patterson's classic oldie riddim It's Raining, giving the club classic a new lease of life on a skankin' reggae flex. It's all about the A side, however, when it comes to rocking the party...any party. These reggae 7"s are pure dynamite - ignore at your own peril.
