Feature on The Heatwave website in Metro
The internet has enabled the world's geeks and obsessives to share their musical passions with the rest of us. For The Heatwave, this is dancehall, reggae and bashment, and the collective is fiercely committed to spreading that love as far as is virtually possible.
There are hours of music to download at theheatwave.co.uk, including single releases, mixtapes, podcasts and sets from their club nights. Mix highlights include Roots, Reality & Culture, an hour of socially conscious dancehall recalling reggae's origins, and Rowdy Bashment 2007, 68 minutes of fiery, furious dancehall.
Live MC sets include Warrior Queen, Ragga Twins and Klashnekoff hosting and toasting as Heatwave DJs select upfront dancehall and classic reggae riddims. In homage to dancehall's 'versioning' tradition, you'll also find quirky refixes such as DJ Q's bassline house take on Dutty Wine, The Heatwave's bashment reworking of Caspa Codina's electro soul and General Levy going head to head with Lily Allen.
